Suggested approach
- Begin at Coast Road and explore the harbour from public paths.
- Use public streets to visit Old City or continue towards the beach.
- Walk the Victoria Esplanade shore where conditions allow.
- Return through town streets or retrace your route; there is no fixed circuit.
Before leaving
Follow signed public paths and current closures. Check weather, water levels and erosion notices. For longer walks use the Essex rights of way map; the Mersea stretch of the England Coast Path is open.
